Kinesiology Taping
When applied aids in
-
pain reduction; this tape is applied on a stretch to strained muscles affecting the very top layer of nerves to over write them. Which aids in decreasing pain and telling the muscle to relax/ go into a more favourable position,
-
reducing swelling /edema (the abnormal accumulation of fluid in certain tissues within the body) it moves the fluid up and helps bring it back into the interstitial space
-
gives an unstable joint(s) more stability by sending information to the surrounding tissues to engage and protect that unstable joint(s). For example a sprained ankle would receive treatment to decrease pain and stabilize the ligaments/ joint and decrease swelling ; depending on severity of sprain and how recent the injury.
